Jim Altamore is a
versatile jazz singer of popular standards from what is known today as the Great
American Songbook. "License to Swing" is the name of Jim’s debut cd. A collection
of American standards set to a swing tempo.
Jim pays a
heartfelt thanks to some of his predecessors like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole
and Bobby Darin. He stays true to their fashion and keeps the finger snapping,
swing feel in songs like “Learnin’ The Blues”, “Route 66” and “Beyond The Sea”.
Jim incorporates
elements of both Sinatra and Basie in his singing style. He swings his face off
but does it in a manner that is never over the top. This technique that has
earned Jim the nicknames “Mr. Smooth” and “The Iceman”, from fellow musicians.
Come in and listen to a vocalist who’s style is timeless.
